 Chairman's Statement

If you are familiar with this page on our website, you will quickly spot a new face by the side of this Chairman’s statement.  After 15 years of hard work the original Chair, Paul Lilley, Club Secretary, David Wooley and other committee members have earned a well-deserved retirement from their roles at HHYFC.

Those of us now filling these roles realise that we have huge shoes to fill, and we will strive to continue their hard work as best we can, taking the club forward from strength to strength. A huge thanks to the outgoing committee members for all the hard work over many years, providing us with the club that we have now.

In the 16 years that HHYFC has been running, there have been numerous changes for both this club and the game of football. HHYFC moved its primary location to Boundary Park in Didcot, which we have called home now since the 1016-17 Season. We have seen VAR enter the world of football. The technology is still controversial and luckily not something that we have to deal with at grass roots level - just good old-fashioned human decision making!  A significant change has been the overall attitude towards the woman’s game and participation of girls in football at the grass roots level.  We have seen the Lionesses sell out Wembley and more and more girls taking up the game in our local area.

Finally – an important reminder – that all our committee members, team managers and coaches are all volunteers. These are passionate people giving up their own time, so that our children can enjoy the ‘Beautiful Game’.  Please offer whatever support you can, at training, on matchdays, in the organization and running of our annual presentation evening and tournament or even just with a positive attitude on your team’s WhatsApp group - it is always appreciated.
